SKODA has launched a new variant of its Existing model, the Skoda Superb . The New car will be called Ambition and this variant of the Superb line will cost us at Rs 17.6 lakh ex-showroom Maharashtra. The existing Superb range will now cost from Rs 17.6 lakh, as opposed to Rs 19.2 lakh of the same car.
Prices now starst at Rs 18 lakhs (petrol) in Delhi, as opposed to the previous entry starts at of Rs 19.6 lakh for the ‘Elegance’ variant. This will now help the Volkswagen Group in India to compete more aggressively with new rival Hyundai Sonata (Rs 18.52 lakhs), apart from pricier Honda Accord (Rs 20.28 lakh) and Toyota Camry (Rs 21.58 lakh).
“With the launch of Superb Ambition, SKODA are now extending the model line with greater accessibility while retaining its class values in comfort, safety, class and efficacy,” said Mr Kamal Basu, Head of Marketing, SKODA Auto India.
The exterior of the car will be similar to the Elegance model, while the interior will be different , said a release from the company. The new Ambition will be available in the following colors in market — Amethyst Royal, Candy White, Magic Black and Rosso Brunello.
The Superb sold 3,080 units in 2011-12, compared with 1,564 units of the nearest rival Volkswagen Passat. Skoda’s advantage is the availability of a diesel engine, which the Accord, Camry and Sonata do not have.
The Ambition variant will be available with either the same 1.8 TSI petrol engine with 6-speed manual transmission, or the 2.0 TDI CR diesel engine with automatic transmission.
